LG has showcased two devices during the company’s press event in New York today, the company’s new flagship phablet, the LG V10, and the Android Wear-powered smartwatch, the G Watch Urbane 2nd Edition. The LG V10 has been rumored for a while now, and it sports the much talked-about ‘Secondary Display’ which is placed above the regular display, can be turned on all the time if the user chooses to keep it like that. That display can contain various shortcuts on it, which are available on the display all the time, no matter what are you doing on the main display at the time.
The company has also announced availability details for this smartphone during the event. LG’s newest smartphone will roll out to South Korea starting this month, while United States (AT&T, Verizon & T-Mobile), China, Asia, Latin America and Middle East countries will follow soon after. The company has also mentioned that additional markets will be added in the coming months. The LG V10 will be available in Space Black, Luxe White, Modern Beige, Ocean Blue and Opal Blue color options. Unforunately, LG did not give exact launch dates nor price points, so we’ll have to wait a while in order to find out, all we have to go on at the moment are leaks.
The LG V10 is made out of metal and silicone. The phone features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Quantum IPS display along with 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 64GB of itnernal storage (expandable up to 2TB via microSD card). The Secondary Display is available above the main panel with a resolution of 160 x 1040. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core SoC, and a 3,000mAh battery is available on the inside, and removable. The 16-megapixel snapper (f/1.8 aperture) can be found on the back of this phablet, and a Dual Lens 5-megapixel shooter is available up front. The phone also sports dual-LED, dual tone flash and a Laser Autofocus on its back. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with LG’s custom UI installed on top of Google’s operating system.
