In the past few years, there’s been a lot of talk about water proof, water resistant and water repellent. Sony has been making their smartphones water-resistant for a few years now, and lately they’ve been rated at IP67 which is technically “water proof” but I still wouldn’t throw my phone in the pool and let it sit there. Motorola has had a nano-coating on their devices lately, which will protect it from small spills and rain. Although it’s far from being water resistant. This means you can take your phone out in the rain and it won’t get damaged. However, drop it in the toilet, and all bets are off.
With Verizon and Motorola announcing the new Droid’s tomorrow – in the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2 – a new leak has popped up confirming that these two will have that nano-coating. Not a huge surprise, but still nice to see. From the leaked document:
“Like DROID Turbo 2, the DROID MAXX 2 offers the same water-repellent nano-coating found on current DROID devices; this keeps customers devices protected during unexpected spills”
The Droid Turbo 2 is looking like it’ll be the flagship Droid smartphone this year. With a QHD Display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Rumors have also pointed to it having a shatterproof display. Which would be a really nice feature to have, especially for those that are a bit clumsy these days. While the Droid Maxx 2 is looking to be a bit more like the Moto X Play announced back in July. Where it’s big feature will be the battery life. Which leaks have shown us, will be around 48-hours of mixed usage. Now Motorola has touted 48 hours before with the Droid Turbo, but we didn’t quite get that far.
Both devices are slated to be announced tomorrow in New York City at 11am EST. We will be there to bring you all of the details as soon as Motorola and Verizon make them known. So be sure to follow Android Headlines so that you make sure you get all of the details as the event unfolds tomorrow morning.
