If you haven’t been following the news over the last 24 hours then OnePlus fever is back again. Like what happened in the build up to the release of the OnePlus 2, speculation is now mounting quickly about what will be unveiled as the ‘other’ OnePlus device. The rumors around a secondary device being released in 2015 had been coming for some time and the last 24 hours has seen the number of reports about the device growing significantly.
The first of which came through last night and seemed to add further confirmation to the fact that the next device will be called the OnePlus X. This was then followed by what seemed to be the OnePlus X being certified in China. Now, the latest is that the OnePlus X also looks to have now passed through the FCC. During the China certification, the unknown device came with the model number E1005 and this is the same model number which has now been spotted on the FCC listings, further fueling the notion that this is actually the OnePlus X. Not to mention, the FCC comes with the images you can see above and below which show the front and back of the device, along with the OnePlus logo.
Now the FCC listing does not reveal too much in the way of specs, although the images do seem to suggest it will be a microUSB port in use, bottom facing dual speakers and a metal frame surrounding the device. The rumors that came through last night also highly indicated that the OnePlus X was likely to be unveiled on October 12th at an event in India. Which is interestingly, the very same day that OnePlus has now confirmed they will momentarily offer open sales for the OnePlus 2. Other specs which have been previously rumored include 3GB RAM, MediaTek’s 64-bit Helio X10 processor and a 3,000 mAh battery. With the uptake in both China and FCC certifications coming through, an October 12th date does seem to be growing increasingly likely to be the date when the OnePlus X will be announced. Of course, if this is the OnePlus X.
