Xiaomi has become one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in China. This Chinese smartphone OEM has released a number of devices this year, and amongst them was the Redmi Note 2 handset which was announced back in August. This is a direct successor to the Redmi Note smartphone which was announced in 2014, and it packs quite a solid set of specs, especially considering its price. This is a mid-range smartphone which packs in 2GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel camera and is fueled by the Helio X10 (MT6795) SoC by MediaTek.
That being said, the Redmi Note 2 Pro has been surfacing online recently, and the device has also been certified in China recently. Judging by the leaks, this smartphone will resemble the Redmi Note 2 quite a lot, but will be made out of metal. We didn’t have all that much info about this phone, well, at least until now. According to the newest report from China, the Redmi Note 2 will feature the same 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display you can find in the Redmi Note 2. The phone will ship in both 2 and 3GB variants, the former model will pack in 16GB of internal storage, while the latter one will ship with 32GB of storage on the inside. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 64-bit hexa-core SoC will fuel this smartphone. Unlike the Redmi Note 2, this handset will also feature a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. We still don’t have any camera spec info, but the phone will almost certainly offer the same 13 and 5-megapixel shooters as its sibling. Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 Android-based OS will almost certainly going to come pre-installed on the Redmi Note 2 Pro.
Now, according to the report, the 2GB RAM variant of this smartphone will be priced at 1,099 Yuan ($173), while the 3GB RAM model will cost 1,499 Yuan ($236). That’s pretty much it as far as available info goes. We still don’t know when exactly will Xiaomi unveil this smartphone, but judging by the recent leaks and the certification procedure, you can expect it to see the light of day really soon, probably next month.
