Sony Announces Xperia Z5 & Z5 Premium Dual In India

Sony has unveiled their flagship Xperia Z5 line of devices during IFA in Berlin last month. The company has unveiled the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia Z5 Compact handsets during their event. That being said, each of these devices is interesting in its own regard, and we’ve talked about them separately for quite a few times thus far. Well, Sony has decided to unleash the two out of three of these devices in India today, the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium, read on.

This Japan-based smartphone OEM has held an event in India today, and announced the dual-SIM variants of these two devices. The Xperia Z5 Dual sports a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Triluminous display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 200GB via microSD card). This device is powered by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC along with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics. The 23-megapixel Exmor RS camera (1/2.3” sensor, f/2.0 aperture, G lens, 4K recording) is available on the back of this smartphone, and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter (Exmor R sensor, 25mm wide-angle lens) is also a part of this package. The Xperia Z5 comes with IPX5 / IPX8 rating for water and dust resistance, while it also packs in a fingerprint scanner. This is a dual-SIM device, and it ships with a Sony DSEE HX audio technology, LDAC codec. The 2,900mAh battery is available on the inside, while the phone also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 tech. The Xperia Z5 measures 146 x 72 x 7.3mm, while it weighs 154 grams.

The Xperia Z5 Premium Dual, on the other hand, is the first world’s first smartphone with a 4K display. This phone actually packs in the same SoC, amount of RAM, internal storage and camera as the Xperia Z5. This is also a dual-SIM handset, which sports a fingerprint scanner, the same audio chip as the Xperia Z5, and it is also a dual-SIM phone. The Xperia Z5 Premium, unlike the Xperia Z5, sports a 3,430mAh battery, and Quick Charge 2.0 is also supported here. Both the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium (Dual) come with Android 5.1 Lollipop pre-installed with Sony’s custom UI available on top of Google’s Android OS.

The Xperia Z5 Dual comes in Graphite Black, Gold and Green color options, while it costs Rs. 52,990 in India. The Xperia Z5 Premium Dual will be available in Black, Gold and Chrome color options, and it is priced at Rs. 62,990. The Xperia Z5 Dual will be available starting October 23rd, and Xperia Z5 Premium Dual from November 7th.
