Telltale Games is well-known for their story-driven narrative gameplay, and their previous offerings span the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Borderlands universes. Their games are also always an episodic experience which means you end up with multiple games to play essentially making up one full game story broken up into chapters or “episodes.” The latest to come from Telltale Games was announced at the end of last year as Minecraft: Story Mode, meshing Telltale’s story telling capabilities with another really popular franchise; Minecraft. The game has just launched on the Play Store today as expected and the first episode is available to pick up for $4.99 which is standard price for these titles.
Just like the other Telltale games, Minecraft: Story Mode will be a five part episodic series, so expect more chapters of the game to appear over the course of the next year or so. Each game will likely cost $4.99 a piece and will be available as IAP’s, but Telltale will also offer the full series, that means all five episodes as a season pass for a little bit of a discounted price than if you bought each episode separately. While there will be plenty of elements from the original Minecraft game, there won’t actually be any building or crafting like you would experience in it.
Those who like games that unfold based on player choice, this should be an interesting title to experience. It should also be a delightful romp through the minds of the characters in Minecraft which fans of the popular PC game should find intriguing. Since this is a story-based game there will be plenty of professional voice acting from the likes of actor Patton Oswalt and others. While the game is already available on the Play Store, those who don’t have access to the Play Store or use an Amazon Kindle Fire device, the game is available on the Amazon App Store as well for the same cost so you won’t have to miss out on the game. Additionally, if you have some leftover Amazon coins from a previous purchase or if you’ve been saving them up for a bit, you won’t have to spend any extra cash.
