Samsung is the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. This company manufactures mainly Andriod-powered smartphones as part of their ‘Galaxy’ lineup of devices which has been up and running for quite some time now. Android-powered devices are not the only smartphones Samsung manufactures though. The company actually develops their own mobile operating system called ‘Tizen’ which is built-in a number of their wearable devices, and one smartphone. The Samsung Z1 was announced back in January, and was quite affordable. This smartphone has allegedly been selling really well in India, and Samsung has decided to take advantage of that and announced a slightly more powerful version, the Samsung Z3, read on.
Samsung has launched this smartphone in India earlier today, a second Tizen-powered smartphone released by Samsung. The Samsung Z3 features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) AMOLED display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core SoC, and a 2,600mAh battery is also a part of this package. The 8-megapixel shooter is available on the back of the Samsung Z3, and a 5-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The device ships with Samsung’s Ultra Power Saving Mode, while Ultra Data Saving Mode is also a part of the picture. The device is powered by Tizen 2.3 OS, even though that’s not the latest version of the OS. The device is expected to be upgraded to Tizen 2.4 quite soon actually.
As far as pre-loaded apps go, Samsung Z3 comes with My Galaxy and Mix Radio apps pre-installed. The 4G LTE support is available here, of course, and the device costs Rs. 8,490 ($131) in India. This phone will be available through Indian retailer Snapdeal later this month in Black, Silver and Gold color options. That is more or less it, this is Samsung’s newest Tizen-powered smartphone. The Samsung Z3 is far from a powerful device, this is actually a quite basic entry-level phone, which is quite affordable, but you might argue there are far better-specced devices out there. The thing is, if you want a Tizen-powered phone, you have only two options, and this one is better than the alternative. As already mentioned, the Samsung Z1’s sales in India were actually quite good, so it will be interesting to see how many Z3 units will Samsung be able to sell.
