Cars have been around us for more than a century. However, it has only been in the last few years that we have taken advantage of its technological development. Today there are two main topics regarding the future of cars – electric power and automated vehicles. The most notable company investing in self-driving cars is Tesla Motors, with their gorgeous Model S luxury sports car. However, as one of the most important technology companies in the world, Google has also been investing heavy on these technologies, which is probably obvious, considering innovation is in their DNA.
Apparently, the search giant is looking far ahead of other companies though, as some top secret plans have just leaked online. A car is fine for taking you from place to place, but it doesn’t do much else – even if it flew, it would only take you to places, nothing exciting at all. Thinking on that, Google has been developing a special vehicle that can travel back and forth in time. “Initial tests performed with control watches under intense scrutiny have been successful with over 3,306 years traveled across test flights,” the plan reads, adding that “unsafe travel with Flux can have serious repercussions on future events, up to and including erasure from existence.” The project seems to be really advanced, as Google plans to build 7 prototypes vehicles and have them tested with 88 public test flights by mid-2016. Exciting, right?
Well, of course, this is a joke, a very clever one to celebrate the Back To The Future Day (October 21, 2015). Several tech companies have been celebrating the day which is highlighted in the epic sci-fi movie Back To The Future Part II, when Marty McFly travels to October 21, 2015, to save his yet to be born children. The prank was very well played on Twitter, as the company tweeted a link which was said to contain 15 promised features for Gmail. When people opened it, they were presented with Project Flux, a PDF with incredibly detailed plans for a time-traveling car.
