LG officially unveiled the V10 smartphone earlier this morning (although they technically announced the phone last night at 7 pm PST) at their live event in New York alongside their new Android Wear smartwatch the LG Urbane 2, which is the first Android Wear device to come equipped with cellular capabilities. In regards to the LG V10, LG is positioning this phone as a device with enhanced multimedia capabilities like multi-view recording and a secondary screen for displaying things like weather, dates, and battery level while the main screen is asleep so users can save battery life. It also comes with dual 5MP cameras on the front of the phone to give users options on great selfies in an 80-degree range or wide angle 120-degree range.
To recap on the specs, the LG V10 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD quantum IPS display and a secondary IPS display, dual 5MP front cameras, a 16MP rear camera with an f1.8 aperture and OIS which is capable of recording in up to 4K (UHD) and it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor with 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB of storage. It also supports up to 2TB of expandable storage, and comes with a 3,000mAh battery to keep things going. LG has packed the V10 full of video and picture functions aimed at giving users professional quality media capabilities.
When it comes to U.S. availability, LG stated in the initial announcement that it would be launched in Korea starting this month, followed by the U.S. and other regions. At the time LG didn’t give any specific dates for the release of the V10 here in the U.S. or other regions, but as of this morning’s event announcement though LG has confirmed that three of the top four major carriers will be selling the phone which includes T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and finally AT&T. LG still hasn’t announced exact release dates or the prices for the V10 here in the U.S. as the carriers themselves will announce those details individually, but it launches on October 8th in Korea with the U.S. to follow, and is expected to be launched sometime in the weeks following this announcement.
