UMi Has Reportedly Partnered Up With Google

UMi is a China-based smartphone manufacturer that not many people outside of the country have heard of. This company has been making smartphones for a while now, and they’ve also released a couple of audio products (headphones and earphones). We’ve actually reviewed the UMi eMax and UMi Iron smartphones this year, and also the company’s Voix Blu Bluetooth headphones. The company is currently working on new smartphone offerings, like the UMi Zero 2 which is supposed to launch really soon.

Speaking of which, UMi has released a new UMi Zero teaser image on their official Facebook page. The image itself is quite mysterious and doesn’t reveal all that much except this is somehow connected to ‘3D’ (Virtual Reality?), and UMi’s upcoming flagship, the Zero 2. It’s also interesting that Google’s logo is located on the bottom of the image along with UMi’s branding. By sheer looking at this image you might not think this indicates anything, but according to our source at the company, it might. It seems like UMi put Google’s logo in this image for a good reason.

According to our source, UMi might actually partner up with Google it seems, but we still don’t have any details regarding this whole deal. UMi isn’t exactly a high-profile company at the moment, so this certainly comes as a surprise. UMi has already teased the arrival of their new flagship, the Zero 2, a couple of times. It is said that this phone will pack 4GB of RAM on the inside, and that it will sport a 20-megapixel camera on its back. The device will be made out of liquid metal, and one of UMi’s teasers also revealed that it will sport some sort of leather on its back. We still don’t know if this will be the basic model or does UMi plan to release a special Zero 2 model with leather back. Either way, stay tuned for more info.
