Huawei has released some interesting products this year, their P8 lineup focuses on design and solid built quality, the Huawei Watch is one of the better designed smartwatches that use Android Wear and it is built with premium materials such as stainless steel and sapphire glass. More recently, the Mate S was announced featuring a pressure sensitive screen and another good design. This is the first manufacturer that made one of Google’s Nexus smartphones to showcase how the Android operating system should look and feel, the Nexus 6P features a distinctive design made with metal.
Now, an unknown Huawei phone has been certified by the TENAA, so we got to know some of its specs and the photos show how the device will look. It features a 5-inch TFT screen with HD resolution. Powering up the device is an unknown octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz paired with 2 GB of RAM. The internal storage is 16 GB, but it can be expanded thanks to the Micro SD card slot which supports cards up to 128 GB. The main camera on the device includes a 13-megapixel sensor with a single LED flash capable of recording video at Full HD resolution while the front-facing camera is a 5-megapixel one. The dimensions of this phone are 143.5 x 71 x 7.6 mm and it weighs 135 grams. It runs Android 5.1 out of the box and it will be available in Titanium Gray, Silver or Gold.
From the pictures, it seems to feature a design with a metallic back plate and probably plastic will be used on the top and bottom to improve the reception of the antennas. There’s a fingerprint scanner on the back and the speaker is located at the bottom of its back. The volume rocker and power button are on the right side and the SIM card slot and Micro SD card slot are on the left. We still don’t know the official name of the device, but it looks like a mid-range compact offering some high-end features like the metallic elements and the fingerprint scanner. The design is very different from the Huawei G8, but that handset was a similar (larger) offering, so it’s not entirely out of the question that this phone belongs to that series. Since it is already certified, its launch date might not be too distant.
