This year has already seen a number of major smartphones arriving on the scene. However, the year is not quite finished yet. HTC has their event planned for October 20th, in which it is largely expected to be the HTC One A9 getting its unveiling. Not to mention, OnePlus last night confirmed that their latest device, the OnePlus X will see its unveil before the end of October. Well, the latest devices from HTC and OnePlus will not be alone as there is of course, also the next in the DROID line-up that had been expected to be unveiled soon enough.
In particular, it has long been rumored that Motorola and Verizon were gearing up to release the next generation version of the DROID TURBO and the DROID Maxx. In fact, it has been recently suggested that the launch event for these devices might take place on October 29th. Well, the time-frame was nearly right as Verizon and Motorola has now sent us an invite to an event which will take place on October 27th. The event is for the next DROID devices and does specially note more than one device, so it does seem clear that the DROID Turbo 2 and the DROID MAXX 2 will both likely be unveiled at the event. The event is scheduled for October 27th and will be taking place in New York and the invites come with a rather intriguing tagline “Everything you expect from a phone will change“.
In terms of what has been rumored previously, the DROID Turbo 2 will come sporting a 5.5-inch QHD display. Inside the DROID Turbo 2 will come equipped with 3GB RAM and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Octa-core processor. Cameras are said to be a 20-megapixel rear camera which is coupled with a 5-megapixel front facing camera. In terms of the DROID MAXX 2, it has largely been suggested this will be the Moto X Play which launched outside of the U.S., which will be released for the U.S. market under the DROID MAXX guise. Therefore, you can expect all the same specs as the Moto X Play for the DROID MAXX 2. Either way, by the end of October all should be known.
