Verizon Wireless earlier this year finally did away with 2-year contracts, following the trend of T-Mobile and Sprint, and in doing so also implemented a new set of plans to go along with the month to month agreements labeled simply as Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large, and an Extra Extra Large, or more properly known as S, M, L, XL, and XXL, each coming with an increased amount of data for the plan than the one below it. As of today Verizon is announcing a new set of prepaid plans for tablets and hotspots which follows along these new plans for shared data on their cell phone plan offerings, and will be offering customers S, M, L, XL, and XXL each with varied rates per month and amounts of data to go along with it.
The plans are not limited to just tablets, but also hotspots and other devices needing to be connected to the internet. The S plan will actually be on a weekly basis as opposed to every single month, and will offer users 500MB per week at just $15. Should users actually go through that amount each week though and use the data every week, that amounts to $60 a month, for a total monthly of 2GB. In this particular case subscribers would be better off with one of the higher plans.
Next up from the S plan is Verizon’s M plan, which costs $20 a month for 1GB of data, and that’s not enough customers could opt for the L plan instead which nets them 2GB of data for a 2 month period at just $35. The last two plans, the XL and the XXL plan will cost subscribers $60 for every two months and $100 for ever two months for 5GB and 10GB of data respectively. For most people, it seems like the sweet spot might be the XL plan which breaks down to about $30 a month for 2.5GB of data in each month. Verizon does allow autopay to be set up with all of these new prepaid data plans, so customers who don’t want the hassle of having to remember the renew date can have things re-up automatically. These plans should be available as of today.
