Xiaomi has launched quite a lot of devices this year, but the company still hasn’t released their Mi 5 flagship. The Mi 4 has been announced in July 2014, so we’ve expected Xiaomi to introduce its successor already, but it’s October now, and the company still hasn’t done that. We’ve seen quite a lot of Mi 5 rumors up until now, and same can be said about the company’s upcoming Mi Note 2 phablet. Either way, a new Mi 5 rumor surfaced recently, read on.
As some of you might remember, the Xiaomi Mi 4 was priced at $320 at launch (16GB model), while the 64GB variant costed $400. This was the phone’s pricing in China, of course, the devices were a bit more expensive in India and through various resellers. Anyhow, according to a newly surfaced info from China, the Xiaomi Mi 5 might keep Mi 4’s pricing. The source claims that the Xiaomi Mi 5’s pricing will start at $320, we presume for a 16GB variant.
As already mentioned, we’ve seen a number of Mi 5 rumors already. It remains to be seen when will Xiaomi launch this device though, but most rumors are pointing to November or December. Anyhow, according to previous info, the Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 4GB of RAM and multiple internal storage variants. The Snapdragon 820 was also mentioned in various leaks, but if Xiaomi opts to release this device before Q1 2016, that chip certainly won’t be included. The Snapdragon 820 will be available to OEMs in January, but Helio X20 should launch before the end of the year, so that might be a possibility as well. The phone is said to sport a 16-megapixel camera on the back, and an 8-megapixel snapper up front. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will probably come pre-installed on this phone with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 OS on top of Google’s operating system. The Mi 5 will probably be made out of metal, though we don’t know if it will sport an all-metal design, or will Xiaomi combine it with plastic once again.
