Sony has unveiled three new smartphones during IFA in Berlin back in September. The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium can be considered Sony’s flagship offerings, while the Xperia Z5 Compact belongs in the mid to high-end category. Anyhow, the Xperia Z5 Premium is a very interesting handset, this is the frist smartphone in the world to sport a 4K display, which was a rather big surprise for pretty much everyone back when the company showcased it.
These three devices have been making their way to various markets all over the world, and the time has come for China to get a taste of the highest-end of them, the Xperia Z5 Premium. Sony has held a press conference in Beijing earlier today and announced their flagship for the Chinese smartphone market. The Xperia Z5 Premium will be available in China starting November 11th, and it is priced at 5,699 Yuan ($897) in that Asian country. The device will be available in Chrome, Black and Gold color options, in case you’re interested.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features a 5.5-inch IPS LCD 3840 x 2160 display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 200GB). This smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC along with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics. The 32-megapixel shooter (PDAF) is located on the back of this smartphone, and a 5.1-megapixel snapper is available up front. The non-removable 3,430mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Sony’s custom UI available on top of it. The Xperia Z5 Premium has a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and it also sports an IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. The phone has a metallic trim around the device, and it also offers two SIM card slots. The phone measures 154.4 x 75.8 x 7.8mm, while it weighs 180 grams.
That’s more or less it, the Xperia Z5 Premium has been officially announced in China, and it will be available soon. This is one of the more expensive devices in the Chinese smartphone market, and it will be interesting to see how well will it sell, stay tuned.
