YU is definitely an interesting company. This is an India-based smartphone OEM, and interestingly enough, it’s owned by Micromax, the country’s number one smartphone manufacturer. YU has released four devices thus far, and the fifth one has been confirmed and will be announced in the coming weeks. The company has released Yureka, Yuphoria, Yureka Plus and Yunique devices thus far this year. All of these phones are either entry-level or mid-range devices, and the first YU-branded high-end device will be announced soon, the company’s CEO has already confirmed that fact.
That being said, the company has just kicked off YU Yutopia registrations, but it’s not what you think. This is not exactly a pre-order for the device considering the phone hasn’t even been announced yet, this is basically a ‘let me know when you have more info’ registration. Interesting enough, the company left this note on their official website: ”This phone will not be available to the users through flash sales”. Does this mean the Yutopia will be available for open sale since day one? Or perhaps it only means that you don’t get to register for a flash sale spot if you register for this ‘inform me’ e-mail. Either way, we expect YU to announce this thing soon.
YU Yutopia’s specifications have surfaced a while back, and if those are accurate, this will be a really powerful device. According to the available info, YU Yutopia will be available in both 3 and 4GB RAM variants. The device is also said to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display and 32GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC will reportedly fuel this smartphone, and a 21-megapixel shooter will be available on its back. The 8-megapixel snapper is said to be located on the phone’s front side, and 4G LTE connectivity will also be a part of this package. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this phone, and Cyanogen OS will come pre-installed on top of Google’s operating system. That is more or less it, we still don’t know the exact release date for this phone, but stay tuned for additional details, the device will almost certainly launch within the next couple of weeks.
