ZUK is a Lenovo-backed company which has been founded earlier this year. The company has managed to grow rather fast, and are currently in the middle of expanding the availability of the smartphone they announced back in August. The ZUK Z1 is ZUK’s only smartphone at the moment, but it’s a rather interesting one. This smartphone has been launched in two variants, the Chinese and International ones. The Chinese variant ships with ZUI, ZUK’s custom UI, while the international variant comes with Cyanogen OS pre-installed.
That being said, this device has been available in China for a while now, and it has also been available for purchase from Amazon all over Europe. Well, the company has been teasing their arrival to the Middle East for a while now, and they’ve held a press conference in Dubai earlier today. ZUK has announced their partnership with Comtel, the largest retailer in the middle east, and along with that the availability of the international variant of their ZUK Z1 handset. ”It is indeed a proud moment for us to introduce ZUK Mobile in the region in partnership with Comtel. We believe partnering with a key distributor as Comtel will give our brand the platform and the momentum to penetrate into high growth and far-reaching markets in the MEA region. Our strategy is to offer a limited but powerful portfolio of models – each device will be a masterpiece at a price which will wow our customers,” said Jin Chen, Chief Marketing Officer at ZUK Mobile.
Neither of the two companies have released any specific info regarding ZUK Z1’s availability though, but based on the available info, it seems like the ZUK Z1 will be available throughout the Middle East via Comtel soon. The ZUK Z1 sports a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device is fueled by the Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor along with an Adreno 330 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel shooter is available on the back of the ZUK Z1, and an 8-megapixel snapper can be found up front. This is a dual-SIM handset which offers fast charging capabilities, and packs in a rather big 4,100mAh unit on the inside. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device, while Cyanogen OS 12.1 comes pre-installed on top of Google’s OS.
