Earlier this Fall Sony pulled up the curtain on their latest smartphones to hit the market, the Xperia Z5 range of devices which includes the Xperia Z5 Compact, the Xperia Z5, and the Xperia Z5 Premium which comes with the world’s first 4K display. While the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact could already be purchased inside of the U.S. as international models, the Xperia Z5 premium was a different story, that is, until today. As of right now consumers looking to pick up the Xperia Z5 Premium can now do so from Amazon, though keep in mind this is the international model which may mean LTE bands are incompatible, and it means there won’t be a viable warranty from Sony themselves.
Sony’s Xperia Z5 Premium carries pretty much the same features as the other two phones, save for the screen size and resolution. It’s powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and comes with 32GB of internal storage space, which can be expanded via the microSD card for anyone who needs more space. It also has the same 3GB of RAM as the Xperia Z5, which is 1GB more than what’s available on the Xperia Z5 Compact. It also has a battery capacity of 3430mAh, and it sports the fingerprint sensor in the power button which can be used for an extra layer of security as well as Android Pay.
As for the display, it’s 5.5-inches in size and Sony’s first as well as an industry first 4K resolution screen, which means a resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels with 806 pixels per inch. When it comes to the cameras, the rear camera is Sony’s new 23MP sensor, and flipped over onto the front is a 5.1MP sensor for video chat. Amazon is selling three available colors of the phone, in black, chrome, and gold, and the prices are all set at under $800 for the 32GB model ranging from $776 – $790. You can also pick these up on the Expansys website as well. As for band compatibility, the phone supports LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 28, 38, and 40, so it should get the LTE speeds for your carrier but you’d want to double check if you’re thinking about grabbing it. These are unlocked models, so they support GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.
