Sony introduced their new Xperia Z5 lineup recently, and while the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact include some upgrades compared to their predecessors, the Xperia Z5 Premium and its unique 4K display and shiny design has captured the most interest. The overall design follows the OmniBalance guidelines that Sony has been using for a while, but it uses highly reflective surfaces to make it stand out from the rest. Of course, the star of the show is the 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display, as it is the first one of such resolution to be used in a smartphone. It probably won’t make much difference in a screen this small, but the 806 ppi density will make it harder than ever to distinguish individual pixels. While the user interface and most apps will be scaled down to Full HD resolution, the phone is said to have a two-day battery life.

The Xperia Z5 Premium is slowly becoming available in some regions, and now, it has been spotted in the Canadian telecommunication company Bell. The image doesn’t tell much, but the phone is now listed as “coming soon” and the display and battery life are the highlighted features. Bell recently started selling the regular Xperia Z5 as an exclusive, it is priced at $199.99 on a 2-year contract or $649.95 at full price, so the Premium version will obviously cost a little more. The phone might be available by the end of the month and we’ll have to wait to confirm its pricing and color options.

In terms of the specs, the Xperia Z5 Premium’s hardware is rated IP68, making it water and dust resistant. It has front facing stereo speakers and an all new fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button on the side of the phone. Powering up the device is an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and 3 GB of RAM. There is 32 GB of internal storage on board and it can be expanded by a microSD card. The phone uses the all-new 23-megapixel sensor with an extremely fast autofocus and there’s a 5-megapixel camera on the front featuring a wide-angle lens. The 3,430 mAh battery is non-removable and it currently runs on Android 5.1.1.
