Gionee has announced their flagship phablet earlier this year, the Elife E8. This is a high-end phablet made out of metal, and it was launched alongside the mid-range Marathon M5 smartphone which ships with a huge 6,250mAh battery on the inside. Since then, Gionee has also launched the F103 smartphone, which is the first Gionee-branded device manufactured in India as part of ‘Make in India’ initiative. That being said, the latest Gionee device to launch is the Elife S Plus which has been announced in India earlier this month.
Well, it seems like Gionee is planning to release yet another device soon, the GN8001 phablet which was certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) quite recently. The Gionee GN8001 features a 6-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phablet will be powered by an octa-core SoC running at 1.3GHz, and you’ll be able to expand its internal memory up to 128GB via microSD card. The 13-megapixel shooter will be located on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. The 5,020mAh battery will fuel this phablet, and Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here. The Gionee GN8001 will offer 4G LTE connectivity, and it will be made out of metal. You can expect this phablet to be 8.2mm thick, and weight 206 grams.
Now, if you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see this phablet in the flesh. It seems like it will be made out of metal, at least partially, and the physical home button will be located below the display. It is possible that the button will double as a fingerprint scanner, but we still don’t have that info. The power / lock and volume rocker buttons are placed on the right-hand side of this phablet, as you can see in the provided images. That is more or less it. The Gionee GN8001 seems to be yet another higher-end offering by Gionee, but we do expect it to cost less than the Elife E8 flagship. Considering the device was certified by TENAA already, you can expect it to be launched in the coming weeks.
