Asus might be better known for making computer components, but they have been making mobile products for a while now. They have introduced a few smartphones and even smartwatches. They announced their ZenFone 2 lineup of smartphones earlier this year, which featured powerful specs and a very decent price. Back in September, the company announced the ZenFone 2 Deluxe and today an even better version has become available. It’s called ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition and it is slightly upgraded and it comes in a very special packaging and there are a few extra goodies in the box.
The box itself doesn’t look ordinary, it has a layer of carbon fiber with the name of the phone engraved in red. It features some angled corners where the words special edition can be read. Inside the box, there’s the phone and an extra cover so users can choose the one they prefer. One of them features a carbon fiber finish providing a rugged look while the other one features a silver metallic look inspired by crystals with over 500 polygons which were hand-crafted to ensure the best grip. Since the phone features a red trim and accents in that color, the ZenUI has been updated featuring red-colored elements including icons, wallpapers, and the notification menu. Additionally, the phone now includes 128 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded with Micro SD cards.
The rest of the specs remain the same as the Deluxe version, so let’s remember some of them. It features a 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution and it is powered up with a quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz. The phone has 4 GB of LPDDR RAM, which should provide a very good multitasking experience. Despite being able to change the back covers, the 3,000 mAh battery is non-removable. The main camera includes a 13-megapixel sensor with a dual-tone LED flash. The 5-megapixel camera on the front features a wide angle lens, so more people or elements could fit into the picture.
