BlackBerry PRIV Now Available From AT&T

AT&T has now announced that they have opened up sales today for the BlackBerry PRIV. This has been one of the most talked about devices of the last few months and largely thanks to the PRIV coming running on the Android Operating system. It was no secret that sales for the PRV were due to open today and in fact, it was only reported earlier this week that AT&T would be one of those to be carrying the PRIV. Of course, besides Android, one of the other biggest selling points of the PRIV is the fact that it includes a slide-out version of BlackBerry’s iconic QWERTY keyboard. Essentially, offering those who miss the feel of a BlackBerry, the chance to have one again, but with all their favorite apps and Google services included.

In terms of the numbers, AT&T are now confirming that the PRIV is available with a full retail price of $739.99. If you would prefer to opt for a contract option, then the PRIV is available via AT&T at $249.99 on a two year contract. That is, in addition to a qualifying call plan of course. Alternatively, those interested, can make use of an AT&T install plan. Via this route, the PRIV will be available for $24.67 per month over a 30 month plan. In addition to the qualifying call plan as well.

The PRIV does look certain to be an interesting device to be added to the Android family of smartphones. BlackBerry have confirmed that they plan to take a very serious approach to the PRIV’s security and will be releasing routine and regular security updates as well as very quick fixes when needed. Not forgetting, the news also only came though this morning that BlackBerry are confirming the PRIV will receive Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). Although, the specific time-frame was not given with simply ‘2016’ provided as the marker. Either way, with the PRIV being such a high-profile device and one which is a significantly important device for BlackBerry, it does see likely that the update will arrive sooner in 2016, than later.
