The BlackBerry PRIV is the latest smartphone offering by BlackBerry and it looks like it’s going to be a very exciting device. It’s been a while since BlackBerry released a major device ever since they came up with the Passport. And with the PRIV, they have taken a huge risk by creating a device to meet the demands of the public while also creating their first ever device to run on Android OS instead of their own native software.
The device features its signature backlit QWERTY keyboard that slides out underneath the 5.4-inch Quad HD display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 540 ppi. The PRIV is powered by a 64-bit Hexa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB on board storage, and up to 2TB expandable storage. On the back is an 18-megapixel camera sensor that records 4K videos at 30 fps and 1080p videos at 60 fps. A secondary camera with a 2-megapixel sensor is available up front. It comes with a 3,410 mAh non-removable battery that gives power to the device for several hours, and it comes pre-installed with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
If you’ve been waiting for the BlackBerry PRIV, there’s some good news for you. Starting Friday, BlackBerry will make the PRIV officially available at AT&T stores and through their website, and if you’re one of those who ordered the device from ShopBlackBerry, you may want to check your email as you may have received an alert for the start of the shipping process. This is great news for BlackBerry, especially since they just recently changed shipping date of the device from Nov. 6 to Nov. 9 on their website. The good news doesn’t end just there, however. On an email sent out by BlackBerry, they have announced that they will be adding in a couple of free accessories for those who have ordered the PRIV directly from their ShopBlackBerry store. They will be sending out a complimentary premium in-vehicle charger and a slide-out hard shell case as a thank you gift to their customers. More instructions on how to redeem these accessories will be sent through an email to their corresponding owners. If you’re thinking about getting the BlackBerry PRIV, you may want to order directly from their website so you can get the freebies. The device is priced at $699 unlocked. You may also get the PRIV under a two-year contract from AT&T for $250.
