Canadian wireless carrier Bell Mobility has announced the launch of the 64 GB version of Samsung’s latest flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 5, on its network. According to the listing on Bell’s official website, the carrier is offering the device in Black Sapphire for $419.99 with a two-year contract and for $899.99 contract-free. The announcement by Bell follows the launch of the device on Rogers earlier this month, when the carrier had introduced the smartphone in Sapphire Black and Titanium Silver as part of its lineup. The prices on Bell are comparable with the 64 GB version of the handset on Rogers, where it costs $439.99 with a two-year contract and $859.99 without one. As for the pricing of the 32 GB version of the Note 5 on Bell, the device costs $359.99 with a two-year term and $849.99 without any contract.
The Galaxy Note 5 is Samsung’s latest flagship phablet, and was launched earlier this year at the company’s ‘Unpacked’ event in New York City, along with the Galaxy S6 Edge+. The device features a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, and is powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7420 SoC. The chip comes with an octa-core application processor, with four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at a maximum of 2.1 GHz. As for the phone’s graphics processing needs, it ships with the Mali-T760MP8 GPU, which is integrated within the Exynos 7420 chipset. The handset comes with 4 GB of RAM, making it the very first device from the South Korean company (along with the Galaxy S6 Edge+) to come with that much RAM.
As for internal storage, the phone is offered in two different options currently, with the base version carrying only 32 GB. The handset however, does not come with expandable storage, so would-be Note 5 buyers in Canada would probably be happy that the 64 GB version in finally showing up on store shelves in the country. The primary camera on the handset comes with a 16-megapixel sensor, while the selfie-cam is a 5-megapixel unit. The smartphone carries a 3,000 mAh battery, and offers the S Pen stylus as its unique selling point. The phablet comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop pre-installed with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz interface laid on top.
