Back in July of 2013, when Google announced that Google Reader (everyone’s favorite RSS reader) was being shut down, many of us were wondering where we would get our RSS fix from. And Feedly seemed to have taken in just about all of the Google Reader users over the last two years or so. In the beginning, it was a bit tough for Feedly, considering how many users they were gaining. But they have adapted and have brought in tons of new features. In fact, on Tuesday, they announced another new feature.
That is Feedly Login. Up until now, you had to sign in with Google. For most of us, that was fine. Simply because logging in with Google meant you could bring over all of your RSS feeds to Feedly with ease. Instead of having to start fresh all over again. But now having its own login, it’s great for Feedly, and gives another option for users. If you already have an account with Feedly, you can still add a Feedly Login to your account. Simply go to Feedly Settings from within your account. (feedly.com/i/logins) and then select “Add Login”. From there you can add Feedly Login as well as choose your username and password. Currently the only requirement for the password is that it be 8 characters long. Now you’ll be able to login with your social logins or your Feedly Login. Making it easier than ever before. Additionally, you are able to disconnect other services from Feedly, if you do just want to login with Feedly Login.
On Tuesday, Feedly also updated the Feedly app on Android. It brings in the new Feedly Login option, but also a few bugs. With the big one being a bug in the Evernote integration which has now been fixed. Otherwise, we are looking at performance improvements, and other minor bug fixes, as we see in just about every app update.
