Samsung has a number of different lineups of Android-powered devices, and the ‘Galaxy A’ is their mid-tier lineup. The company has released a number of Galaxy A devices thus far, and it seems like another one is right around the corner. This Korea-based tech giant has trademarked three Galaxy A devices back in March, and one of them was the Galaxy A9. That smartphone has, since then, been spotted at Zauba, AnTuTu and even its images have surfaced online.
Well, the Galaxy A9 has now popped up on Bluetooth SIG as well, which means it has been certified. This basically suggests that the device will be launched soon, Bluetooth SIG certification is one of the last steps OEMs do before they launch a device. The Galaxy A9 has appeared on Bluetooth SIG under ‘SM-A9000’ model number, which is essentially the same device that popped up on both AnTuTu and Zauba. The phone was certified yesterday, and even though Bluetooth SIG doesn’t really share any spec info or anything of the sort, we did get that info from AnTuTu last month.
According to the info shared by AnTuTu, the Galaxy A9 will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 620 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 510 GPU for graphics. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on this smartphone and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI will be available on top of it. The AnTuTu listing didn’t say anything about Galaxy A9’s camera sensors, but we assume that the device will ship with a 13-megapixel rear-facing snapper, and you can also expect the phone to be made out of metal.
As previously mentioned, the alleged Galaxy A9 image surfaced last month, and has shown us a rotating camera, capacitive buttons and no physical home buttons. This seems really odd, and it is hard to believe that the leaked phone is actually the Galaxy A9. Every single ‘Galaxy A’ device follows Samsung’s design guidelines, and it’s hard to believe the Galaxy A9 will take a step back and offer something completely different, but we’ll see.
