Samsung has announced quite a few premium offerings this year. Instead of announcing one Galaxy S6 handset, and the next-gen Galaxy Note handset only, this Korea-based tech giant has announced two additional flagship offerings. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 are accompanied by the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus which were also announced earlier this year. That being said, we’ve already seen quite a few Galaxy S7 rumors, and the device probably won’t be announced before February or March next year.
Interesting enough, the Galaxy S7 benchmark listing popped up in China, but not the one you’re used to seeing. The Galaxy S7 has been listed in Master Lu’s (Ludashi) benchmark, the benchmarking service / app most of you have probably never heard of, but we’ve seen a couple of high-profile devices listed there in the past. Anyhow, the Galaxy S7 actually managed to score 103,692 in Master Lu’s benchmark, and the listing also reveals that this is the Exynos 8890-powered variant of the device accompanied by ARM’s Mali-T880 GPU for graphics.
Now, this benchmark listing only shows the sheer power of the upcoming Exynos 8890 SoC. The Exynos 7420 is one of the best mobile processors of 2015, and it seems like its successor might be worth the name. We’ll have to wait and see if the SoC is really that good, and it will be really interesting to see flagship SoCs battle it out in 2016. The Exynos 8890 will have plenty of competition considering the Kirin 950 has been released, and it’s plenty powerful, while the Snapdragon 820 and Helio X20 are almost here as well.
According to rumors, the Galaxy S7 will not only be powered by the Exynos 8890 SoC, but it will also pack in 4GB of RAM, and at least the QHD display. We’ve also seen a number of camera sensor leaks, and interesting enough, all of them were different. Two reports claimed that Samsung intends to use their very own ISOCELL units, and one leak even suggested that Samsung is trying to get Sony to sell them their IMX230 (23MP) sensors used in the newest Xperia Z5 line of devices.
