HTC announced the One A9 a couple of weeks ago, the phone has been criticized because the company changed the design language of their hardware and the One A9 could be considered a little too similar to another popular smartphone. The rest of the hardware elements make it a mid-range device, as the screen measures 5-inches although it sports Full-HD resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor and there are two versions that differ in the amount of RAM and internal storage, but in the US, it will be available with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. The main camera has a 13-megapixel resolution and it features OIS and a dual-tone LED flash. The camera on the front integrates the Ultrapixel technology that we’ve seen on some of the past offerings from the company. The 2,150 mAh battery is not removable and it might be a tad small.
While the specs don’t seem to be very exciting, the company has included some extra perks that make it a decent offering overall. The phone itself is supposed to make audio sound really good thanks to the enhancements made by Dolby. The Uh-Oh protection plan is included and this is the first non-Nexus phone that runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, in fact, HTC has promised that they will update this phone to newer versions of the OS within 15 days after Google updates the Nexus devices. Users can unlock the bootloader without voiding the battery and the phone features 4 color options.
HTC has been taking pre-orders of the One A9 for a while now through their own site, but now it can be purchased from AT&T. Users might get this phone on Carbon Gray or Opal Silver for as low as $0 on Next24 at $17.34 for 30 payments, $0 on Next18 at $21.67 for 24 payments, $0 on Next12 at $26 for 20 payments or for $99.99 on a two-year commitment. The phone will be available on AT&T’s retail stores starting this Friday. Let’s remember that the protection plan and the unlockable bootloader might be exclusive to the version sold directly at HTC’s website and the phone currently has a promotional price that will end very soon.
