The designs of the devices made by the Chinese manufacturer Huawei have been improving over time and now they are considered among the better-looking ones. We were expecting the successor of the Huawei Mate 7 a few months ago, as the very successful phablet was announced in September last year. We got the company’s current flagship instead, it is named Huawei Mate S and it is a pretty interesting device with some innovations, but its screen is a tad smaller at 5.5 inches. There have been many leaks regarding the new phablet, which is expected to be finally unveiled on November 26th.
Last week, we got to finally see the phablet in renders and real-life photographs, although those were covered with a protective case, so the design wasn’t revealed entirely. Now, some official-looking renders were spotted, so we can learn more about its design. The most striking element of the device is the display, it’s expected to measure 6 inches, but it’s practically bezel-less on the sides and the top and bottom ones are quite small too, so the device might end up being more compact than its predecessor. The bezels on top and bottom of the display feature a metallic finish to make them extra shiny and the glass covering the display seems to curve around the edges.
The button placement is similar to the one on the previous phone, with the power button and volume rocker located on the right. There are a headphone jack and a secondary microphone on the top and nothing on the left side. On the bottom, there’s a charging port in the middle and the speaker grilles are now located there, as well. The aluminum back looks quite clean, as only the circular-shaped camera sensor and fingerprint scanner, plus the dual-tone LED flash are visible. One more thing that we could learn from these renders is the different color options of the Mate 8, it will be available in silver, gold and rose-gold. As for the leaked specs, the Kirin 950 processor will power it up, which should be more power efficient and more secure. The 6-inch display will sport Full HD resolution and the cameras on the back and front will be 16 megapixels and 8 megapixels, respectively. There could be two versions, one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage and another one with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The battery will have a large capacity of 4,000 mAh and it could be running Android 6.0 out of the box.
