Meizu is one of the fastest-growing smartphone manufacturers in the world at the moment. The company has managed to increase their profits by 500% in the second quarter this year (compared to the same period last year), and they’ve introduced a number of interesting devices since then. The highest-end handset this company has introduced this year is the Meizu PRO 5, their current flagship. This smartphone has been announced back in September, and is currently the only non-Samsung device to sport the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC which is regarded as one of the best mobile processors of the year.
Back in September, Meizu has announced two variants of this smartphone, the 3 and 4GB models. The 3GB variants has been priced at 2,799 Yuan ($438) at launch, while the 4GB model has been said to cost 3,099 Yuan ($485). That being said, Meizu has just announced yet another variant of this smartphone, the ‘Gold Edition’. This Meizu PRO 5 variant also comes in 3 or 4GB models, and will be somewhat more expensive than the original smartphone. The 3GB RAM model of the Gold Edition PRO 5 is priced at 2,999 Yuan ($469). We still don’t know the pricing of the 4GB RAM variant of this handset. Now, this special edition of Meizu PRO 5 goes on sale today in China, in case you’re interested.
This variant of Meizu’s flagship phablet actually sports identical specifications to the original Meizu PRO 5. The device features a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Super AMOLED display along with 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). This smartphone is powered by the Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC, and a 3,050mAh non-removable battery can be found on the inside. On the back of this handset you’ll find a 20.7-megapixel sensor along with a dual-LED, dual tone flash and a Laser Autofocus. The 5-megapixel shooter is available up front, and the device offering quick charging capabilities (mCharge). The PRO 5 also ships with a fingerprint scanner, and is made out entirely out of metal, which makes it both look and feel premium.
