LG’s first all-metal offering, the LG Class, turned heads when it debuted in the company’s home country of South Korea back in September. The specs were fairly ho-hum aside from a great front camera and a RAM allocation that’s not seen too often, but the brand new and very different design, featuring a slim 7.4 mm profile and 2.5D glass, managed to catch the public’s attention. As the first metal device from LG, it represented a radical departure from their usual stable of plastic devices and the premium, leather-clad LG G4. The metallic mid-ranger now has its sights set on Europe, starting in Italy, with a price tag of 299 euro, or roughly 320 USD.
The fairly average spec sheet, with a couple of notable exceptions, reads like a template for a modern lower mid-range device, boasting an all-too-common Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with a slightly exotic 1.5GB of RAM. A 5 inch screen is where the usual LG-branded magic happens at a 1280 x 720 resolution, with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop behind the scenes. 16GB of storage is on board, with a microSD slot that’s said to be able to handle cards up to 32GB. Wrapping the whole package up nicely, we have a respectable 13-megapixel camera and an out-of-left-field 8-megapixel selfie snapper for crystal clear video chats and vanity shots. A non-removable 2,050 mAh battery keeps the party going for what can be assumed to be a decent amount of time, given the rest of the spec sheet painting a mostly manageable picture. All in all, between its great new design and more than usable specs, the LG Zero is likely to make a splash in the mid-range market. Its price is pretty much what’s expected, if you consider a base range of 220-250 euros for a typical Snapdragon 410 device and then add in a premium for the excellent cameras, metal body and extra 512MB of RAM.
The device is available in Italy for now, with no release date for other European nations or a trip across the ocean announced quite yet. Reliable tipster @evleaks claimed back in September that the phone was headed to AT&T in the United States, with no word on other carriers quite.
