Nov. Security Patch Forthcoming On Unlocked U.S. One A9

Software updates aren’t the most important thing to most people, but they are becoming increasingly beneficial to have for some. The issue with updates is that it’s more difficult to come across a quick software update on phones that aren’t Google’s Nexus devices. It isn’t always this way though, and for HTC One A9 owners it doesn’t have to be. In fact, HTC has said they’re committed to delivering the upgraded software to the One A9 without too much delay between when Google sends it out to the collection of supported Nexus devices, and when HTC plans to push it to device owners.

This is great news for those who are keen to stay ahead of the curve with the latest versions of Android, and although the HTC One A9 already comes running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, so long as HTC keeps this mentality for the device, when a new version of software is released HTC should be sending it out within 15 days of the Google push. The better news is that this apparently also applies to the monthly security updates. HTC has mentioned that within 15 business days of the monthly Android security patch being sent out to Nexus devices, they plan to push that same security patch to HTC One A9 owners.

There is one caveat to this, though. This only applies to the U.S. unlocked versions of the HTC One A9, which is to be expected since HTC doesn’t control the software flow when it comes to carrier models. For the U.S. unlocked models though, HTC says they anticipate that the November security patch is to be approved sometime today, and what’s more is that if everything goes according to schedule they plan to start sending the update out to phones immediately, which means many unlocked HTC One A9 owners in the US could be looking at the update being completed before the weekend is over. If you own an unlocked model of the HTC One A9 here in the states, keep an eye out for the security update as it could be showing up anytime now.
