Most of you have probably heard of Philips, a technology company based in Netherlands. Philips has been around for a long time now, since 1891, and they’re best known for their audio products. Philips does make smartphones as well, even though they’re definitely not the first company you’ll think of when someone mentions the word ‘smartphone’. Anyhow, the company has introduced the S616 and V787 smartphones last month, the two phones that use SoftBlue technology which reduces the harmful blue light that emits from the display up to 86%.
That being said, another Philips-branded smartphone, the Philips Swift S616L is now listed online after being certified back in September. According to the listing, the Philips Swift S616L features a 6.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 32GB). This handset is powered by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core processor along with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera is available on the back of this device along with an LED flash, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper located up front. The 3,000mAh removable battery is also a part of this package, and this phablet also offers 4G LTE connectivity. The listing says that this phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat, despite the fact that S616 and V787 ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop. which is interesting.
The phablet is listed on Taobao, and it costs 1,399 Yuan ($220), while it is available in Gold color only. Keep in mind that this phone hasn’t been announced officially by Philips just yet, but it is already available for purchase from Taobao. We do expect, however, that Philips officially unveils is soon. There you have it, the Philips Swift S616L is a huge phablet, and it is quite comparable to Lenovo’s Phab Plus phablet which has been announced a while back, though that thing has an even bigger 6.8-inch panel up front. The Huawei P8Max also belongs in this category, that device sports a 6.8-inch display, though unlike Philips Swift S616L, it sports high-end internals, while this is a mid-range phablet. That’s pretty much it, Philips will unveil this phablet soon, we’ll let you know when that happens.
