Xiaomi has already announced that they’ll hold a ‘Grand Finale’ event on November 23rd (tomorrow). The name of the event is definitely promising, and if recent leaks and rumors are to be believed, we’ll see both the Redmi Note 2 Pro and Mi Pad 2 launched at the event. Now, we basically know that the leaks are accurate considering the fact Xiaomi’s CEO has already shared teaser images of both of these devices, quite recently in fact. The Xiaomi-branded smartwatch has also been mentioned in a recent leak, but we don’t know how legit that is.
That being said, it seems like the leaked REdmi Note 2 Pro won’t carry that name at launch. Xiaomi has released a rather interesting teaser via the company’s official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, and the teaser simply says ‘Redmi Note 3’. This, of course, suggests that Xiaomi has decided to alter the phone’s name, and release it as a Redmi Note 3, which is quite odd. The Redmi Note 2 has been announced in August, and we’ve reviewed it quite recently actually, so this really does come as a surprise, ti’s not like Xiaomi to announce next-gen devices after only a couple of months. So, what’s the reason for this name change? Well, the Redmi Note 2 Pro branding was, perhaps, too confusing for consumers, which is not that hard to believe. Either way, we’ll find out what’s what tomorrow.
As far as this handset’s specs go, Redmi Note 2 Pro / Redmi Note 3 will sport a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM (3GB variant is a possibility) and 16GB of internal storage. This handset will be fueled by MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core processor, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of it. The 13-megapixel camera will be available on the back of this phone, and a 5-megapixel shooter will be located up front. The 3,060mAh battery has also been mentioned, and rumors say that the phone will cost 1,099 Yuan ($172). The Redmi Note 3 has already been certified by both TENAA and 3C Certification in China, and everything seems to be ready for its announcement.
