Registrations For OnePlus X Now Open For EU Residents

Through an announcement on Twitter, Chinese smartphone vendor OnePlus has announced that its newly launched first-generation mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus X, is now up for sale in the Eurozone for €269 and in the UK for £199. The one caveat however, is that only the version with the Onyx glass back will initially be made available, with no word on when the Ceramic version or the Champagne-colored version will be up for grabs. The device will be available through the company’s official website oneplus.net, and while prospective customers will have to sign up for invites first if they want to get their hands on the device any time soon, the company will reportedly hold open sales every week from next month onwards. The company unveiled the device late last month with much fanfare, and has mostly received a positive response from the tech media at large.

The OnePlus X of course, is the brand new mid-range handset from OnePlus, and the third smartphone overall from the company after the OnePlus One from last year and the Oneplus 2, which was launched earlier this year as the company’s current generation flagship. The device features a 5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a 1080p display resolution, giving it a pixel density of 441 dpi. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, which comes with an integrated 32-bit quad-core CPU, clocked at a frequency of 2.3 GHz. The embedded GPU within the SoC happens to be the Adreno 330. The OnePlus X comes with 3 GB of RAM, but only 16 GB of storage out of the box, which can however, be further expanded by up to 128 GB with the help of a microSD card.

Imaging options on the smartphone include a 13-megapixel rear-facing primary camera with phase detection autofocus and an LED flash; along with an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie-cam. Both cameras are capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. Sensors on the OnePlus X include a fingerprint scanner, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a proximity sensor along with A-GPS and GLONASS, while connectivity options include LTE, HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v4.0. The phone also carries a 2,525 mAh Li-Po battery and comes with Oxygen OS 2.0 pre-installed, which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
