It’s not even been a full year since Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 and already the industry is looking ahead to the launch of the Galaxy S7. Rumors have been swirling around for some time now, and there seems to be no slowing down to these new pieces of information that keep on crawling out of the woodwork. There’s no telling whether or not these rumors and speculation will end up turning out true just yet, but we’re sure that Samsung is looking to build on the success that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were this year. If rumors are to be believed, a slightly different approach is to be taken by Samsung.
According to a new report coming from Italy, the Galaxy S7 is to come in two different sizes, one at 5.2-inches and another Edge version to come in at a larger 5.7-inches. The latter is now also thought to feature an edged display on all four edges of the device. This year’s Galaxy S6 Edge improved over last year’s Galaxy Note Edge by making use of flexible OLED on both edges of the display. How next year’s device might make use of an edge on each edge of the device is unclear, but it would certainly make for an interesting handset design, something that has been lacking for some time now in the world of smartphones. Samsung more than likely has the ability to put such a device into production, but whether or not the end result will be worth it will depend on sales next year.
We’ve been hearing quite a lot about the Galaxy S& just recently, and with companies like ASUS setting plans for CES, held in January, it’s unsurprising that we’re looking ahead to next year already. For Samsung however, they have bigger things to worry about, like sales of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 line of devices during the Holiday Season, and with Black Friday fast approaching, Samsung will be looking to capture more users in the last month of the year. The Gear VR has just gone on sale as well, so there’s a lot for Samsung fans to be thankful for right now, without looking ahead to next year.
