These days, there are more than enough options out there for video services which make it rather easy to forego tradional cable TV options, allowing consumers to “cut the cord” and ditch their providers for something cheaper and just as satisfying. Among the options like Hulu, Netflix, HBO Now, and others, is Sling TV which has already recently gotten an app on Android TV to join the Android app for smartphones and tablets. Sling TV offers a package of $20 a month for users to gain access to hundreds of different TV shows across 20 channels of live tv to stream right to their Android device or Android TV setup, and in an announcement today Sling TV has just lifted the curtain on their newly launched support for the Chromecast.
Google’s HDMI streaming dongle was rumored to be getting support soon, and today Sling TV is living up to that rumor by allowing users to easily stream whatever it is they’re watching right from the app on their phone or tablet to the big screen. That isn’t the only part of Sling TV’s news though, as they’ve set up a couple of different promotional offers to entice buyers and bring in new users to try out the service which may not have given it a shot just yet. For those interested, if you sign up for Sling TV as a new user and prepay the first three months of the “best of live TV” service, Sling will give you a free Chromecast device.
The other promotional offer targets existing Chromecast owners. For those who already have a Chromecast device, you can visit the Chromecast website later on today and get a 2-month free trial of Sling’s “best of live TV” package before you end up having to transition to paying the monthly fee. Normally, the trial period only lasts a week, making this a downright steal when it comes to checking it out. The Chromecast support extends to those using it with an iOS device as well so no one is getting left out here. While these are great little deals, it’s worth mentioning that they are only going to be available for a limited time so if you’re even remotely interested in testing out Sling TV, it would be wise to do it sooner than later.
