Sling TV App Now Available On Android TV

Sling TV was one of the products which was initially unveiled at this year’s CES event in January. Touting their ‘Take Back TV’ slogan, Sling TV hopes to bring Live TV content to more people without the need for expensive or lengthy contracts. Instead, for $20 a month, users can have access to a variety of channels. Since Sling TV’s unveiling, the package first became available on an invite-only basis. However, the service quickly began to widen its level of availability. This started with the company opening up the access to Sling TV to everyone (without an invite) back in February.

Since, then Sling TV has also been making further pushes to widen the availability and channel offerings. Following the initial available to everyone announcement, Sling TV also announced that they had partnered with EPIX to bring a selection of VOD content to its users. This was also followed more recently in April, with the announcement that HBO content had been added to the Sling TV channel listing. So all in all, Sling TV offers android device owners a great way to watch TV content on their android device. That said, TV content is probably best appreciated on your TV. Well, if you are of the same way of thinking then today’s announcement will be for you.

Sling TV have announced that starting today, Sling TV is available on devices running Android TV. This means if you own a Nexus Player (or other android TV powered device) you can download the app from the Play Store and enjoy Sling TV on your Android TV, without the need to use your android smartphone or tablet. In fact, to celebrate the arrival of Sling TV on the Nexus Player, Sling TV have announced users who subscribe to three months worth of the pre-paid Sling TV service, will be able to purchase the Nexus Player at half price. Alternatively, If you already own an Android TV device and want to give the service a try, then Sling TV is still offering seven days of free service to give you a taste of what is on offer before subscribing.
