Sony Xperia Z5 is one of three devices this Japan-based company announced back in September during IFA. The Xperia Z5 is, next to the Z5 Premium, Sony’s new flagship smartphones. The design is similar to previous Sony-branded Android devices, but Sony has seriously improved the phone’s camera, and a spec bump is here as well. We’ve actually reviewed the Xperia Z5 quite recently, in case you’d like to check that out. That being said, iFixit has managed to get their hands on an Xperia Z5 unit and have decided to tear it apart, as usual, read on.
Now, the Xperia Z5 wasn’t that easy to open it seems, but wasn’t too difficult either. iFixit had to use quite a bit of heat to loosen the adhesive before they could pop it open. The battery was quite easy to remove, and the inside of the phone is full of adhesive and screws, so you basically just repeat the procedure. Interesting enough, iFixit did list this teardown on their site, but a third-party source did the teardown, so we didn’t get the usual wealth of information we get from iFixit, like the teardown difficulty score. Based on the information we do have, however, it seems like Xperia Z5 is a somewhat more difficult to disassemble than most devices.
The Xperia Z5 features a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage (expandable up to 200GB). The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics. The 23-megapixel shooter is located on the back of this device, and a 5.1-megapixel snapper can be found up front. The phone is IP68 certified, which means that it is dust proof and water resistant. You do get 4G LTE connectivity here, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Sony’s UI on top of it. Quick Charge 2.0 is also included, and the device packs in a 2,900mAh battery on the inside. The Xperia Z5 measures 146 x 72 x 7.3mm, while it weighs 154 grams.
