Earlier this year, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge line of devices, which carried on into the Galaxy Note 5, with big designs changes and fresh software features. People really seem to like these changes and since they include some of the best specs out there, Samsung smartphones were considered among the most powerful devices of the year.
It might be too early to start talking about the Galaxy S7 as some rumors seem to contradict each other, but these are some of the rumors about the features that are more likely to make it into Samsung’s next flagship. In terms of the overall design, it seems that the company will use a similar construction based on glass on the front and back and a metallic frame, but this time, the frame could be made from a Magnesium alloy and it might be a little thinner than the current phone. There have been several rumors regarding the size of the screen, some even suggest that two phones with different screen sizes might be launched at the same time, measuring 5.2 inches and 5.7 inches.
The rumored processors that will power up the device are the Exynos 8890 and the Snapdragon 820, both will be made under a 14 nm process and they could feature Laser Produced Plasma, which would deliver better performance using less power. Samsung recently introduced a new 20-megapixel camera sensor with RGBW pixels made under a 28 nm process, which could be used in the Galaxy S7, but there have been rumors that the company could use an even bigger sensor. The audio department might be improved with a dedicated ESS audio chip. Now that Synaptics has developed the technology for pressure sensitive displays, Samsung might include such a display in their next flagship improving some aspects of how the whole UI works. Finally, they might integrate the new USB Type C connector as it is now supported by Android 6.0 Marshmallow and besides the connector being reversible, it could mean faster speeds for data transfer and faster charging times.
