Right now, the battle of the carriers is one which is being fought at the plan level. All the carrier seems to be intent at pushing out the best deals they can. T-Mobile made a ‘double your data’ announcement last week, Sprint announced one yesterday and now today it looks like it is the turn of Verizon. The U.S. carrier has today formally announced five new prepaid plans which customers can choose from. These break down into the smartphone and basic phone subcategories. The details of the smartphone new plans were first noted a couple of days ago and included a new $30 plan which offers no data access. If you missed that announcement though, or would just like to know what Verizon are now offering across all their prepaid plans, then here are the details.
In terms of the smartphone plans, than as previously confirmed they start from $30 and rise up to $60. For the top package, $60, you will get your unlimited talk and text along with 3GB data to use per month. If you sign-up for Autopay, the data allowance is bumped up to 4GB per month. While if you prefer the middle of the road option, then for $45 a month you can pick up a plan which will give you unlimited talk and text as well as 1GB of data to use. Again, signing up to Autopay sees the data allowance bump up to 2GB per month. The bottom level smartphone plan will cost you the $30 and will offer you unlimited talk and text but as mentioned, does not provide any means of data which can be used. In short, this is a Wi-Fi only access plan.
Moving to the basic phone side of things and these plans come in two options. For $30 per month you can pick up a plan which provides unlimited talk and text and offers mobile web. While if you opt for the cheaper $15 per month plan, then you are looking at 300 talk minutes, text or multimedia messages. This is a combination package so you will be getting 300 to use for all and split across the different types. This plan also comes with unlimited mobile web access too.
