YouTube is the most popular video streaming / sharing service in the world. As most of you know, YouTube is owned by Google, and the Mountain View giant is constantly trying to improve the service. As part of that, they’ve introduced the kin-friendly YouTube service called ‘YouTube Kids‘ about seven months ago in the US. Well, the time has come for YouTube Kids to expand its availability, the app is now available in a number of countries around the world, read on.
YouTube Kids is now available in United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. As its name says, this app actually comes with a number of channels and videos which are child-proof basically, in order for kids not to watch inappropriate content. Kids will also not be able to upload videos or comment on them from the app, while the app also comes with a built-in timer, which will allow you to set a timer for app usage basically. This application has been downloaded over 10 million times up to now, in case you were wondering. It is also worth mentioning that the app will feature a number of local channels for select countries. Morph, Teletubbies, Wallace & Gromit and the Magic Roundabout will be available to users in Ireland and the UK, for example.
As a reminder, YouTube Kids application is available for both Android and iOS in the US, and has been that way for quite some time now. That is pretty much it, YouTube Kids is available in a number of additional countries, and it is probable Google is getting ready to launch the app in additional areas in the near future as well. As you may notice, the app launched in English-speaking countries only, and the content is the real reason behind it. It remains to be seen what happens next, but YouTube Kids is quite a popular app at the moment, and it is to be expected Google will heavily push it forward in the coming months. Either way, stay tuned for additional info, as soon as Google shares more information, we’ll let you know, as always.
