Champagne OnePlus X Available Invite-Free In Some Regions

After the OnePlus 2 went invite-free earlier this month, the Chinese smartphone maker also made the OnePlus X available for purchase without the much-criticized invite system that has thus far been the hallmark of Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus. However, unlike the flagship handset, the mid-ranger from OnePlus is available without an invite only on Tuesdays, as was already reported earlier. Now, last Tuesday (December 15th) was the very first invite-free Tuesday for those wanting to get their hands on the device but this time around, even the Champagne Gold version will be up for sale without the need for an invite, which wasn’t the case last week. The handset of course, is currently available in three different versions – Onyx Black, Champagne Gold and Zirconia Ceramic.

There is however, a caveat for customers in North America. While the open sale is valid for all three versions in Hong Kong and Europe, buyers in the United States will only be able to get their hands on the Onyx Black version without the all-important invite, at least for the time being. According to OnePlus, the Champagne version will only be available next month onwards in North America. The open sales will start at exactly 4:00PM local time at all places the offer is applicable, including Hong Kong, Europe and North America.

The OnePlus X of course, is the first-ever mid-range handset from OnePlus, and the third handset overall from the Chinese smartphone vendor after the OnePlus One from last year and the OnePlus 2 from earlier this year. The device features a 5-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC. The OnePlus X comes with 3 GB of RAM, but only 16 GB of storage out of the box, which can however, be expanded by up to 128 GB thanks to the presence of a microSD card slot. The device sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing primary camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing selfie-cam. Sensors on the OnePlus X include a fingerprint scanner, an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a proximity sensor along with A-GPS and GLONASS, while connectivity options include LTE, HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth v4.0. The phone sports a 2,525 mAh Lithium Polymer battery and comes with Oxygen OS 2.0 pre-installed, which is based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
