When it comes to tablets, one company who has been releasing a steady number of devices throughout the last year is E Fun. About this time last year and just as CES was starting up, E Fun announced the launch of four new tablets which were joining their Nextbook range of devices and which all came running on the latest (at the time) version of Android, Lollipop. The main tablet of the four was the Nextbook Ares 11 and this one came sporting an 11.6-inch display as well as 1GB RAM and an Intel Atom processor. This was a 2-in-1 device which came equipped with a magnetic keyboard so it could be used in either a standalone tablet fashion or in more of a traditional laptop-like form. Following on from that early 2015 announcement and E Fun has today announced they will be releasing an updated version for 2016, in the form of the Nextbook Ares 11A.
In terms of the specs, the new addition to the Nextbook Ares family will come equipped with the same sized 11.6-inch display which makes use of a 1366 x 768 resolution. Inside, the Area 11A will come sporting an upgraded 2GB RAM and will be powered by an Intel Atom X5-Z8300 Quad-core processor. Internal storage will be set at 64GB as standard and there will be the option to expand, thanks to the inclusion of a microSD card slot (upto 64GB). In terms of connectivity, the Area 11A will make use of Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, while connections on offer will include two USB 2.0 ports as well as a mini HDMI and microUSB port. The Ares 11A will also be equipped with a 2-megapixel rear camera as well as a 2-megapixel front facing camera., while the tablet will come running on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) out of the box.
This is a tablet which again will adopt a 2-in-1 form and as such will make use of a detachable magnetic full size keyboard. For those attending, E Fun has confirmed that the Nextbook Ares 11A 2-in-1 tablet will be on show during CES 2016 next month and in terms of its wider availability, E Fun notes that the Ares 11A will become available in the second quarter of 2016. On the topic of price, the Nextbook Ares 11A is set to land at the $219.99 marker.
