Galaxy S7 To Sport A 5.2" Display; S7 Edge A 5.5" Panel

The Galaxy S7 rumors have been coming our way left and right for weeks now. Samsung’s upcoming flagship isn’t expected to launch before (the end of) February, even though some rumors have been hinting at a January launch timeframe. Either way, the Galaxy S7 will be announced in the coming months, and judging by what we’ve seen thus far, the device will be fairly similar to the Galaxy S6 in terms of the design, but Samsung is working hard to improve their software offering.

That being said, one of the rumors which popped up a while back claimed that the Galaxy S7 will arrive in two variants, and today’s rumor actually shares more details regarding upcoming variants. According to a Korea-based publication, ET News, the Galaxy S7 will be released in two different screen size options. The regular variant will sport a 5.2-inch flat display, while the second ‘Edge’ option will ship with a curved 5.5-inch panel. Now, it seems like we won’t be getting the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge which are almost identical in terms of size and what not, the ‘Edge’ variant is rumored to sport a bigger display. Now, this rumors, along with some previous ones, seem to hint that we won’t be getting two differently sized ‘Edge’ devices in 2017, only the 5.5-inch model. This might actually be a good choice by Samsung considering that the 5.5-inch display is a standard these days, and the huge Galaxy S6 Edge Plus phablet really didn’t bring any additional functionality to the table, unlike the Galaxy Note 5.

Keep in mind that these are only rumors at this point, and we cannot confirm any of this info. A ton of rumors have surfaced in the last couple of weeks and it’s somewhat difficult to pick out legit ones, but this one does seem fairly believable. Now, the Galaxy S7 is rumored to sport a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 4GB of RAM and multiple internal storage variants. Samsung will reportedly release two variants of this handset, one variant will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, while the other one will ship with Samsung’s very own Exynos 8890 chip. You can expect both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge to be made out of metal, and to sport similar internals. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on both of these devices with Samsung’s custom UI available on top of it.
