Earlier today, Google finally took the wraps off their latest tablet-based device, the Google Pixel C. Now this is a device which had already been announced back at the Nexus event Google held towards the end of September. However, this morning saw Google finally take the wraps of the Pixel C’s availability and placed the tablet up for sale via the Google Store with prices starting from $499. A few hours later and it now seems that with one hand Google gives and with the other hand, they take away.
In the midst of the arrival of the Pixel C on the Google Store, it now also seems that Google has removed the Nexus 6 from the Google Store. If you head over to the listing (source link below) the listing is still showing, although the availability and the option to buy has now been removed. Instead, the page listing simply states “The Nexus 6 is no longer available for purchase“. This is nearly always a tell-tale sign that a device or product will no longer be available from the Google Store. In contrast, if it had just been a stock issue, it would say ‘out of stock’ instead. As such, it does now seem that the lifespan of the Nexus 6 on the Google Store has come to a close.
This might not come as a huge surprise to many though, as the last few weeks have seen the Nexus 6 go through an endurance set of sales with the price being slashed to as low as $200 during the Black Friday weekend on Amazon. With so many sales going on for the Nexus 6 and though all the major retailers, both online and in-store, it does seem obvious now that this was a clearing of the stock. Not to mention, with the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P firmly here to stay on the Google Store, it was probably about that time for the Nexus 6 to move on. If you are someone who is still interested in picking up the Nexus 6 before they are all gone, they then are still available to buy through Amazon. For how long is now the question.
