HTC's Teaser Suggests One X9 Will Launch On December 24th

HTC has announced quite a few smartphones this year, but the company’s sales didn’t improve all that much. The One A9 handset which was announced a couple of months ago did help HTC improve their numbers to an extent, but this is a short-term solution. HTC knows that, and it seems like they’re getting ready to launch a new handset soon. The HTC One X9 has leaked plenty of times in the last week or so, we’ve seen a number of images of this handset, and we basically know its specifications as well, it was just a matter of time when will HTC announced it.

That being said, it seems like this handset will land on December 24th. HTC has released a new teaser image on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) account, and they’re teasing a ‘superior Christmas gift’ on December 24th. Now, everything indicates that this might be the One X9’s launch event, not only this teaser (the shape of the device and, the big letter ‘X’ which is included as well), but a number of reports from China. Now, this is not the only piece of info we’ve stumbled upon today, One X9’s alleged pricing has also surfaced. According to a report from Taiwan, HTC’s homeland, the device will cost somewhere in between 12,000 and 15,000 Taiwan dollars ($366 – $457). Keep in mind that this is supposed to be pricing for Taiwan only, the prices will vary, depending on the market, presuming HTC intends to release this handset in other markets as well, of course.

The One X9 has also surfaced on TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) a while back, and according to that info, the One X9 will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The phone will be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz, and a 13-megapixel shooter will be placed on its back. The 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop will come out of the box. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow might actually ship out of the box here after all, the One A9 came with Marshmallow pre-installed, and that handset was announced a while back, so it’s possible the One X9 will also sport Marshmallow straight away.
