Huawei Unveils Metal-Clad Enjoy 5S With 2GB Of RAM In Tow

Huawei has announced a number of smartphones this year. You’re probably more familiar with some of Huawei’s higher-end devices, like the Mate S, Mate 8, and Google’s Huawei-made Nexus 6P. Well, this company tends to release quite a few mid-range devices a year as well, like the Enjoy 5 smartphone which was announced back in October. Well, it was reported yesterday that the company plans to unveil the Enjoy 5S smartphone today, and that’s exactly what happened in China, read on.

The Huawei Enjoy 5S is actually made out of metal, like a number of Huawei-branded devices this year. The device features a 5.-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). MediaTek’s MT6753T 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels this smartphone, and a 2,200mAh battery is also a part of this package. The phone ships with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. Now, as far as software is concerned, the device comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop with Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 3.1 installed on top of Google’s operating system. This handset also sports a fingerprint scanner on its back, and you’ll find two SIM card slots on the inside. You can either use both SIM card slots for your SIM cards (Micro + Nano SIM), or you can use one SIM card and a MicroSD card, the choice is yours.

The Huawei Enjoy 5S a slight step up compared to the Enjoy 5. This handset sports a more powerful SoC, but its battery cannot match the one used in the Enjoy 5. The Enjoy 5S will ship with a 2,200mAh unit on the inside, while its older brother comes with a rather big 4,000mAh battery on the inside. The Enjoy 5S will be available in Silver, Gold and Titanium Gray color options in China. What about its price? Well, the phone costs either 1,099 ($172) or 1,199 Yuan ($188), depending on who you purchase the device from (carrier locked or unlocked). It’s also worth mentioning that the device is only 6.5mm thick, and if you’re interested, you can head over to Huawei’s official online store in China and check out this handset, the listing is already there.
