Huawei Watch Now Comes With A $50 Rebate At The Google Store

Chinese multinational networking, telecom equipment and consumer electronics major, Huawei Technologies, announced its first smartwatch at the Mobile World Congress 2015 held in Barcelona, back in March this year. The device is simply called the Huawei Watch, and it happens to be the very first smartwatch from the company, although it has made some other wearables before, including smart bands etc. While the Huawei Watch was originally announced at the MWC, pricing and availability details were only revealed at the IFA trade show in September. The device has been available commercially for a while now, but thanks to the latest discount being rolled out by the Mountain View, California-based tech company, the attractive smartwatch can now be bought for $50 less on the Google Store.

Additionally, Google is also promising to pay shipping charges on all orders placed on or before the 22nd of this month, meaning, the overall savings for anybody buying the wristwatch will actually be higher than the advertised $50 in reality, making the already-attractive smartwatch an even more enticing proposition for Android Wear aficionados. Coming back to the rebate itself, the offer is currently applicable on all versions of the watch available on the Google Store, including the Silver Mesh model that can now be grabbed for $350, whereas the more premium Black Link model will now cost $400. All of which means this is as good a time as any to buy the device.

Taking a quick look at the tech specs of Huawei’s first-generation smartwatch, the device features a circular watch-face that immediately gives it the look of a traditional wristwatch, which is in stark contrast to most smartwatches that have been launched in the market over the past few years. The round display measures 1.4-inches in diameter and comes with a resolution of 400 x 400 pixels. The Huawei Watch is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 chipset that comes with a Cortex-A7 CPU clocked at a frequency of 1.2 GHz, along with an Adreno 305 GPU. There’s 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage on offer, and sensors include an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a PPG (heart-rate monitor) and a barometer. The device is also IP67 certified, which denotes dust and water resistance.
