Letv has entered the smartphone market back in April when the company announced their first three smartphones. These three devices have been selling really well in China, and Letv is looking to expand their availability. This China-based company is already selling their accessories in the U.S., and they will start selling their smartphones soon as well. Letv will make the big announcement during CES next month, and the device should become available through LeMall soon after that.
That being said, the company has actually announced more products in Asia. Letv has unveiled their first virtual reality headset called LeVR COOL1. This virtual reality headset is actually already available (for pre-order) in China, and it costs 149 Yuan ($23). “Virtual reality devices are still very young conceptually. With virtual reality, consumers can dream bigger, and experience greater imagination and freedom. We’re just seeing the beginning of virtual private theaters that consumers can use to fully immerse themselves in next-generation effects and action,” said Jun Liang, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Letv. The LeVR COOL1 is designed to work with the Le 1 and Le 1 Pro handsets, and it sports an Ecosystem User Interface (EUI) which is optimized for VR applications. This VR headset actually leverages the power of the so-called ‘Catmull-Rom’ spline interpolating algorithm in order to expand users’ multi-sensory experiences. This basically means that it stimulates their full immersion and involvement in the VR world. The first 20,000 units have been available since yesterday for pre-order, and the sale will commence on December 29th.
This is not the only announcement Letv made in Asia recently, the company has also announced a 70-inch LCD TV as well. The Letv Super TV Max 70 is the company’s newest ultra-thin Ultra HD TV, and Sharp has provided the TFT-LCD panels used here. This TV is only 9.9mm thick, and is priced at 12,999 Yuan ($2,015) in China. The company expects to ship three million LCD TVs in 2015, and six million in 2016 according to sources.
